Research Methodology

Last reviewed: 12 September 2026. BusinessForts is an editorial reference library. This page describes the process used for new research and substantive updates.

1. Define the decision

Each guide should help a reader make a specific early-stage decision: choose a business model, identify mandatory requirements, estimate a budget or design a small demand test. Closely related guides must explain their different scope.

2. Start with primary sources

For licences, tax, safety, privacy and regulated activity, we begin with the responsible government department or regulator. A source link is a starting point, not a substitute for checking state, county and city rules.

3. Label uncertainty

Costs, prices, margins and market figures vary by location and operating model. They are treated as planning inputs unless the claim has a nearby dated source. A calculator on this site uses only figures entered by the reader and does not promise a typical result.

4. Review usefulness

New and substantially revised pages are checked for a direct answer, a clear scope, actionable steps, internal links to the relevant topic and official verification paths. Automated tools may assist drafting and translation, but they are not accepted as evidence.

5. Correct and update

We update a visible modification date only after a substantive change. Old URLs are retained where possible so readers and search engines do not lose the route. We do not invent authors, credentials, customers, reviews, legal entities or business results.
